In 2010, after completing a writing course.
What makes you want to write?
I get a story in my head and become intrigued by the possibilities of it.
Do you ever get writer's block and what do you do to get over it?
Yes, badly. I don’t have a healthy dose of
self-belief so I’ve stopped and started with this for, I am ashamed to
say, about three years. In the end, I had to just write, and forget what
I thought of my writing.
Do you have a special way of going about writing?
Not really, I write in airport lounges as I travel,
which is distracting but also gives me something sensible to do while
waiting for planes.
What are your hobbies?
I like collecting what my husband calls ugly pots,
but are actually art pottery. Writing is also a hobby, although perhaps I
can’t call it that now?
How did you choose the character names for One Little White Lie?
They just came to me as being appropriate for the
personalities. People in show business can have silly names, so I popped
in some of those for minor characters. I wanted the main character to
have a unique name, and people are always mispronouncing
my own name, so I chose Cylia (Sil-a).
Do you have any works in progress?
Not yet.
Who is your favorite character in One Little White Lie?
Helmet Mann, the Hungarian contestant.
Where did you get the idea for One Little White Lie?
I love chick lit and am a secret devourer of all
types of talent shows, so I thought it would be fun to combine these
loves. I’d just taken a writing course and thought I’d give a novel a
shot. My husband then suggested that I might add another
element, something darker, and the publisher went for it.
What are you currently reading?
I deal with sums in my day-to-day life, so I prefer
light-hearted reads aimed at women. Most recently I’ve read ‘One Glass
Is Never Enough’ by Jane Wenham-Jones.
What is your favorite book?
Despite the light-reading mentioned above, I do love Anna Karenina by Tolstoy.
Who is your favorite author?
There are so many brilliant writers out there, but if pressed, Jodi Piccoult.

When India Roman's younger sister decides to audition for STAR, a world wide talent programme, India is forced to help.
Then when her sister, Cylia,
freaks out and runs away, India decides to audition in her place in the
hopes of earning some money.
Things soon start spinning out of control
when India finds herself getting deeper and deeper into trouble.
One Little White Lie isn't my usual sort of read but it was pleasant and well-written.

The characters were mainly likeable apart from those that
weren't supposed to be.
There was a big secret at the end that I didn't
see coming.
Overall this was an enjoyable book with a dark twist that I would recommend for people looking for something different to read.
