Grace is moving back to the US embassy in Adria where her grandfather is the ambassador.
Several years ago her mother was murdered.
Everyone says it was an accident but Grace knows otherwise - she saw the bullet wound before the fire destroyed the building and she saw a scarred man.
Everyone thinks Grace is crazy but she's not and she's going to find the scarred man and prove it.
This was my first Ally Carter novel and after hearing good things about the author I was expecting to really enjoy it but I was slightly disappointed.
The setting was interesting - a row of embassies - and I liked that Grace's friends were from different countries.
The writing style made this easy to follow but it didn't grip me.
The plot was okay - I didn't guess the ending but I did get bored several times.
I felt sorry for Grace, especially because of the PTSD she was suffering from but she did start to annoy me after a while.
I was surprised at how little contact Grace had with her brother and father throughout the book.
Overall this was an okay but disappointing read.
