(Alexa Crushed #1)
Publication date: May 20th 2015
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Synopsis:

Alexa Morgan lost her mother when she was two. At eighteen, her father and stepmother died when a devastating earthquake hit the Bay Area. Only one person has remained a constant in her life: Devin.

Devin has been Alexa’s best friend since childhood. The two are inseparable—or they were until Devin declared his love for her at sixteen. When Alexa can offer him only friendship in return, Devin retreats, brokenhearted.

Alexa, on the other hand, longs for Ethan, the boy next door. Four years older than her, and with an ever-changing roster of girlfriends, Ethan is everything Devin isn’t: wild, sensual, and unpredictable.

In the aftermath of the deadly earthquake, Ethan makes his move on Alexa, who reciprocates in a confused whirl of grief and desire. When Ethan leaves town shortly after, Devin comes back into Alexa’s life, offering support and expecting nothing in return.

Alexa begins to see the advantages of Devin’s quiet, stable love. But just as her feelings for her old friend begin to blossom, Ethan returns. Now Alexa must choose—the perfect boyfriend or the wild, thrilling bad boy. It’s a choice that changes her life forever.

When did you start writing?

When I was itty bitty I used to love to tell stories to anyone who would listen. In junior high I started to write those short stories, turning them in for extra credit I didn’t need for my English class. In high school I found a passion for writing poetry while I continued with my short stories. I never dreamt of writing to be published. Not too long ago I was journaling and absolutely hated it. I wanted out of my head not in it, so I started to type someone else’s thoughts and life story. Before I knew it I had written the entire Alexa Crushed book. My mother always told me I had a vivid imagination that would be useful some day and I’m so thankful I was able to prove her right before she passed away.

What makes you want to write?

The love of writing makes me want to write but what gives me my stories are my dreams. If I say voices in my head people may want to commit me instead of read my stories…lol

Do you ever get writer's block and what do you do to get over it?

I had serious writers block half way through Alexa Loved (my second book). A lot had to do with two other stories screaming at me and the fact that choosing between Devin and Ethan were ultimately my choice. It was hard to get over that decision but I think my readers will be surprised at the outcome.

Do you have a special way of going about writing?

I dream, I write, and I edit. Weird right?

Do you have any works in progress?

I currently finishing Alexa Loved. It will be the conclusion to Alexa’s story but I have two other works in progress that have nothing to do with the Alexa series. One is erotica/comedy and the other will be a dark erotica.

What are your hobbies?

Besides writing, I love wine tasting (drinking),movies and just hanging out with my awesome hubby.

‪How did you choose the character names for Alexa Crushed?

My given name is complicated for people. It is always misspelled and mispronounced so with the Alexa series I chose names that I have always liked but are not too common yet known enough to not be misspelled or mispronounced like mine.

‪Who is your favourite character in Alexa Crushed?

Alexa is my favorite character. Although she is a lot like me I do envy the fact that she gets the best of both worlds between Devin and Ethan. The hot best friend and the dangerous and sexy as hell bad boy next door. Who wouldn’t want that? Some people don’t or won’t understand her but if you think back to when you were eighteen you have to really put yourself in her shoes and ask, “what would I have done in that situation?” Everyone deals with grief differently. Everyone deals with adulthood differently. When you are thrown into adulthood life will not be ideal. Alexa dealt with the cards she was given and kept moving forward. I love that she didn’t crumble and give up on life. She continued to feel and move push herself to live instead of letting the darkness overwhelm her and close off from the world.

How did you get the idea for ‪Alexa Crushed?

I was journaling and realized fairly quickly I hated it. I wanted out of my head not in it. Next thing I knew I was typing someone else’s thoughts and life story. A couple of months later I wrote a whole book about Alexa Morgan. It’s actually very surreal for me.

What was your favourite part of writing ‪Alexa Crushed?

Honestly, it was the whole story. Even though I used to write short stories I never in my life thought I could write a book. When I finished the original manuscript and I had two very different people read it and both said, “Holy Shit!” I knew I had something. That was an awesome feeling!

‪

‪What are you currently reading?

I wish I had time to read! The last book I read was The Virgin Romance Novelist by Meghan Quinn. Awesomely funny by the way. Since I’m trying to complete Alexa Loved I have to concentrate on my writing and my characters. I can’t have someone else’s voice in my head.

What is your favourite book?

My all time favorite book is The Great Gatsby. The time period and characters were very intriguing for me. Not to mention the original alpha, Gatsby himself.

‪Who is your favourite author?

I have a lot of authors I admire but my favorite author today is K. Bromberg. Her words Unraveled me and each of her books were Driven by a Fueled passion that Crashed my heart. Her words have never left me. (Btw…each of those capitalized words are books by her)

‪

What is your favourite film?

Oh goodness. This one is hard for me since I love movies as much as I love to write and read. I’m gonna cheat a little. I will give you favorites from my preferred genres. I hope that’s ok. If not, tough cookies :D

Horror: Friday the 13th (original)

Comedy: Tommy Boy

Rom-Com: Just Friends

Drama: Dear John

Feel Good: Pitch Perfect

Action/Adventure: Star Wars (original) My geek girl movie =)

‪

‪What is your favourite TV show?

Are you trying to break me? My all time favorite show will always be the original Beverly Hills 90210. But if I had to choose a more current show I would have to say Dexter. I think every PD needs a Dexter.

‪Quick-fire questions:

Chocolate or ice cream? Ice Cream

Paperback or ebook? e-book (BUT learning to love signed paperbacks)

Dogs or cats? Dog

Go out or stay in? Go out (I live in a small town so going out is a luxury)

AUTHOR BIO

T.R. Cupak was born and raised in the suburbs of a Bay Area city in California. She was the closet nerd who hid her love of reading and writing short stories and poetry when she was younger. Back then it wasn’t considered cool to be into those types of activities for pleasure, whereas today you have TV shows, movies and books that glamourize that being a nerd is actually cool.

T. lives in a quiet, little, country town south of where she grew up. She is happily married to an amazing man who supports her in everything she does and spoils her rotten. They have a crazy little Shih Tzu named Harley. He's their fur-baby and even though he’s a pain in the arse most days, they love the little guy. She has an obsession with cars, especially fast ones. She enjoys her music louder than anyone should. Admittedly it’s to drown out hearing her own singing voice, or lack thereof. When she’s not at work or busy writing you can find her curled up reading a book on her Kindle with a glass of wine or Dirty Shirley.

T. lost touch with her creative side and stepped off the path of all things written in her early twenties. Six years ago, her passion for reading was rekindled. She began to utilize reading as a way to escape everyday chaos. Late 2013 she began journal writing. After a couple of months of journaling T. realized that this form of writing wasn't keeping her interest nor was it helping her to relax. After that realization settled in she changed the direction of her writing. Her creative aspirations were flowing once again and she happily embraced it. As her fingers started to dance across her keyboard she began to see her fictional characters begin to breathe life. Writing was only supposed to be a way for the new author to relax, but a story was born and T.R. Cupak is excited to be releasing her self-published debut novel, Alexa Crushed.
